Last week the New York Attorney General’s Office revealed an investigation that showed that Whole Foods was overcharging customers on as many as eighty of its pre-packaged meals. Yesterday, Whole Foods admitted that it had made mistakes and apologized for the errors in overcharging according to CBS News.

“Straight up, we made some mistakes,” said co-CEO Walter Robb, as he stood beside co-CEO John Mackey in a YouTube video posted Wednesday. “We want to own that.”

“We apologize to our customers for any discrepancies that may have occurred,” the company said in a blog post.

We certainly appreciate the apology and the honesty in the mistakes that were made. However, we also hope that Whole Foods will take steps to re-pay those customers for the unjust enrichment they obtained. It also still remains to be seen if these mistakes were more widespread then already disclosed. If not, numerous states have legal recourse that can obtain re-payment for these unlawful practices, including the District of Columbia.
