The name of a young man who was in a wreck in Winston-Salem, NC on the morning of January 6, 2011 on his way to school has not yet been released.

The Reagan High School student was driving on Balsam Road near Transou Road when his vehicle hit ice on the street. An article on myfox8.com states that NC Highway Patrol Trooper Hassell described the road as “well covered with ice.” The victim’s car flipped and struck a tree, and the roof of the vehicle caved in.

The student—who is known to be on the cross-country team and a member of the high school band—was not speeding at the time of the accident, and investigators believe he was wearing his seatbelt. No one else was in the car with him at the time of the accident.

He was airlifted to an area hospital with serious injuries, but his condition is unknown.

Another wreck this morning resulted in the death of another high school aged student, Jacob Turner. He, driver Chris Williams, and a second passenger were in an accident in Caswell County on their way to school.
