We have just been employed to represent the family of someone who was killed in a fire.  They lived in an apartment, and the deceased person was on the second floor when a fire broke out on the first floor.  Unfortunately, there was no means of escape, and there were no safety measures in place.  This was a landlord situation, and the landlord should have made sure that the tenants were protected in the event of a fire.

This case got us to thinking about our own situations.  Do you have a home?  Do you have children?  Do you live in an apartment?  Have you ever considered what might happen in the event of a fire?  Could you get out?  Do you have an escape plan?  Have you spoken to your family members?  Do you have enough fire extinguishers?

There are many things you can do in order to insure your safety.  Most are fairly cost effective.  Here are some products you might want to consider:

It is easy to overlook these issues, but they could save a life.  Think about it.  Talk about it.  Tell your Landlord about these products.
