There has been a lot of news lately regarding the bullying of children in our schools.  While this is not a new phenomenon, it seems to be a growing issue.  In fact, it has become so pervasive that many "experts" are blogging and writing about it.  Additionally, there have been various lawsuits against school boards and school systems regarding the injuries and deaths of students.

One such expert is best-selling author, Paul Coughlin.  Paul has started The Protectors, an organization focused on helping put a stop to bullying.  According to the site:

The Protectors focuses primarily upon the potential strength, heroic desire, and rescuing capacity of Bystanders, transforming them into what we call “Alongside Standers.” We also provide assertiveness training for Targets, help Authority dispel the many damaging myths about bullying, and inspire children who bully to employ their power in life-affirming directions instead.

Paul has written books on this issue, including:  the freedom-from-bullying parent and teacher resource, Raising Bullyproof Kids.  He also has a blog about heroes in the bullying sense.  Paul is definitely a leading resource on this issue.

There are many other resources on Bullying.  In fact here are fifty (50) blogs regarding the problem.  Within this list, you can find sub-topics on bullying such as Cyberbullying, workplace bullying, reporting bullying events, professionals on bullying, and bullying forums.

As you can see, there is so much information on Bullying, and there is no excuse for any of us, as parents, to allow our children to suffer from this abuse.  There are proper ways of handling these issues, and our teachers and parents need to be aware of the methods and exercise them.
