Greetings from your friends at KidsAndCars.org

Gene Weingarten of the Washington Post was awarded a Pulitzer Prize on Monday for the article “Fatal Distraction;” about parents who inadvertently left their children in hot cars.

KidsAndCars.org worked with Mr. Weingarten for over 6-months by providing data and background information that became the basis for his article. We have never had the issue of Heat-Related Vehicle Deaths (HRVD) portrayed in such an articulate and insightful way. We will be forever grateful to Mr. Weingarten for bringing attention to one of the most misunderstood modern phenomenas. He is so deserving of the Pulitzer Prize and has now provided an entirely new worldwide audience to learn about how these tragedies occur and most importantly how they can be prevented.

The link below takes you directly to his article. It truly is a ‘must read.’

There is no “us” and “them” in this issue. I absolutely believe given the right set of circumstances, this can happen to anyone. A person believing otherwise is in denial. (learn about the “Swiss Cheese Model” in his article)

Please feel free to contact KidsAndCars.org if we can be of assistance in helping to raise awareness in your community about the dangers children face in and around motor vehicles.
