The Ingham County Prosecutor has charged Joseph Hethorn, a licensed professional counselor, with criminal sexual conduct allegedly involving one of his former clients.  Hethorn faces charges of third degree criminal sexual conduct and fourth degree criminal sexual conduct as a mental health professional stemming from an incident in November 2018.

Sexual assault cases involving medical professionals have been receiving increased attention in recent years.  Doctors, therapists, nurses, and other healthcare workers occupy positions of trust and authority. Unfortunately, these positions of trust and authority can be exploited, which can allow them to manipulate patients or mislead them into thinking illegal or tortious conduct is legitimate treatment.  Many patients and clients are particularly vulnerable due to mental or physical infirmities, making them easy targets for unscrupulous predators.

Grewal Law has unique experience in handling sexual assault claims. Mick Grewal and his team of dedicated attorneys and staff represent 111 of the 333 plaintiff-survivors in lawsuits filed against Michigan State University, USAG, Larry Nassar and others who failed to protect women and children from abuse.  The Grewal team was instrumental in reaching the $500,000,000.00 settlement with MSU and its current and former employees.  If you or a loved one has experienced sexual assault, please call 1-888-227-4770 or visit www.4grewallaw.com.  The Grewal team is available 24/7 to speak with you.
