Carbon Monoxide (CO) and smoke detectors have been recalled by Nest Labs for repair due to failure to sound alert. According to the CPSC, activity near the device during a fire can prevent the alarm from immediately sounding when the Nest wave feature is enabled.
To date there are no reports or incidents associated with this recall. This recall includes ALL Nest Protect Smoke and Carbon Monoxide alarms. The alarms have a Nest Wave feature that allows users to temporarily silence some alerts or to cancel a manual test.

The repair is an automatic electronic update that disables the Nest Wave feature and is automatically delivered to devices that are connected wirelessly to the Internet and linked to a Nest account.

Consumers have two options for righting this recall:

Consumers that have not yet connected their Nest Protect devices to their wireless network should do so. The device will receive the update immediately. For more precise directions, please see: http://support.nest.com/article/Nest-Protect-Safety.

Alternatively, if you have Nest Protect devices connected to their wireless adapter and linked to a Nest account should immediately confirm the receipt of an automatic repair. No further action is required.

Consumers may contact Nest Labs at (800) 249-4280 anytime for more information.
