What they’re telling us, is that car drivers need educating.
One of my favorite things to do when I’m with a group of people, is to ask how many took a driver education class in high school. Usually, the vast majority of the group will raise their hands. I then ask how many of them remember the instructor even mentioning trucks. I have yet to find anyone that does. Next time you’re with a group of people, give it a try. Let me know what results you get.
What I’d personally like to see, is that everyone renewing their driver’s license be required to view a 5 minute video, and score better than 80% on a ten question test. It could be done quite easily and cheaply, and would go a long way toward reducing car vs. truck fatalities.

More driver training and follow up would probably save a lot of money in the long run.
